Where these questions come from
Not from a past paper. Every question in these booklets and papers was generated for this site. The IEB is a private examining board and its papers belong to it; none of them is reproduced here, in whole or in part.
What was taken from the real examination is its shape. 282 past IEB questions were labelled by topic, paper, section and mark value, and that measurement decides what appears here: which topics, how much of the paper each is worth, and how the 150 marks divide between the easier Section A and the harder Section B. The result examines the same skills in the same proportions using questions that have never been set.
Every answer was produced by one method and then checked by a different one before it was published — a quadratic’s roots substituted back, a tangent length re-measured from coordinates, a counting answer re-counted by listing the arrangements. A question whose two methods disagreed was discarded and redrawn, so nothing here is published on the strength of the code that produced it.
